But I was really trying to focus on the ROCK aspect, and not the METAL. There's about 7 or 8 up there I shouldn't have included, actually (being too metal and all), but *fuckit*, I couldn't resist w/some of em.

No way, it's an excellent list, man. I heard a band the other day that I think you would totally dig. It's the band called Lair of the Minotaur and I picked it up just cause I liked the cover and it's on the Southern Lord label. Also, pick up that Boris "Pink" vinyl that just got issued. It's limited and very good, but it's seriously Japan's own Black Sabbath meets Mono kind of thing that I know you would dig on.

The new Volta is seriously good. It's more proggy even for them.
Lair of the Minotaur is totally old school Thrash with some beefy Bar B Que Rib Riffage. Not very doomy at all and a little different for the label.
"Pink" came out this weekend to most major independant record stores. They should have that at Graywhale, for your sake's I hope. It's good!

Here's one: Bands that you liked at first and then you just really started to hate them. That for me would be The Arcade Fire. Ugh. When I was a wee little kid, I actually liked the Eagles -- I hate them now. Although I can tolerate one or two of their songs. "Life In The Fast Lane" came on the radio in the worktruck today and I sat there thinking just how I could never stand that song. Dwelling upon it further, I came to the thought that The Eagles (IMO) are one of the worst bands that 'MadeItBig'.... But then it was a Classic Rock station and just about everything spun on it was fuckin' torture to me......oh good, just what I wanted: to hear "Rebel Yell" for the goddamn zillionth time..... For cryin' out loud, they played Van Halen twice in the space of 3.5 hours....

I hope that at least one of the songs was 'Ain't Talkin' Bout Love'!
The thing about the Eagles is that ttheir timing with Hotel California was just about perfect...a smooth quasi-rawk disc, with decent vocalists (Timothy B Schmit sings like an angel, a neutered one...say what you will) with lots of drug references...pedigree from lotsa West Coast superstar folkie bands, as well

I mean, they wonder why no one listens anymore....maybe it's b/c people are fucking sick of "Light My Fire", "Purple Haze", "Rebel Yell", "Jack & Dianne", etc.....I mean shit! It's been the same fucking songs in rotation since I've been a little kid! Maybe if they would play more deep cuts, and change the rotation a bit classic rock radio wouldn't be so bland! Now I hear them play "Jeremy", and other early 1990's rock songs! I've been sick of that song since 1992, now it's part of the line up w/ "Hotel California"!!! Uhg! Radio sucks goat balls, and hopefully Sirius and XM will be the final death nail for radio as we know it.

Man I recall fondly the days when "The Lonesome Jubilee" was my favorite album. . .

This is probably too obvious of a reply but the reason those Classic Rock stations seldom get beyond the same 600-800 songs is that that's what the average listener wants to hear. That person mainly only wants what they're familiar with and will revisit that same pond time and time and time again --- play too much of something new or obscure and they're changing the channel quicker than you can hum the opening bars to "Stairway To Heaven"..... Sadly, it's that Billy Idol and Van Halen that sells the commercials.
