I'd rather listen to either the Pixies or Pavement than anything from Plant and Page, et al.

I don't know if it quite does justice. Zeppelin is far more important to me than these other bands. True. But at least there is some common sense among these boards. btw, Zeppelin own all these bands combined, including the Clash.  |

Because the Pixies were great. No other band of that era comes close other than Sonic Youth.Jane's Addiction You mean four homeless drug addicts trying to sound like Led Zeppelin? No thanks. |

I like Jane's Addiction. I like them a lot, in fact. But they were not in the same league as the Pixies or Sonic Youth.

Let me rephrase. Every classic rock/hard rock/heavy metal band is heavily influenced by Led Zeppelin. That's just how awesome they were.

I would agree with this, but continuing to try to figure out what people like about Jane's Addiction would mean that I'd have to listen to them again. And Perry Ferrell is just too annoying to justify sitting through their catalog again. I didn't "get" Jane's Addiction when they came out, didn't "get" them when the broke up or regrouped, and I'm not going to put any more effort into "getting" them now. Perry Ferrell is almost as annoying a vocalist as Robert Plant, IMHO. |

Perry Ferrell takes some getting used to, but it's worth it because of Dave Navarro's guitar playing.
BTW, Navarro is 10 times the guitarist Jimmy Page was.
