With the omission of Beastie Boys, my vote goes to Outkast.

I would normally go right to Chuck D out of pure sentimentality, but I'm with Kenny on Talib. If I look back at who sounds really fresh against old and new schools, Kweli is my guy.

This is about Best MC, not Best Tracks By An MC. Fair enough, shin. Do you think Eminem is better than everyone up there?

I think his abilities as an MC are beyond anyone else period, not just up there. His application of his skills could use a lot of improvement, but facts are facts.

Chuck D just really isn't great skills wise, he's great for other reasons. He has better then average flow but the best? Not even close. What bollocks. Not great skill wise? He has flow but he's more a rapper that punches his words rather than flows. And since I like my rappers to say something with that kind of conviction and leave his impression like a smoking trail on a highway, D is the man. None of the other rappers can come close. Rakim is smooth, especially in his Eric B-period and he'd be my second favourite. Talib Kweli and Common just bore me.

A rapper with a similar fire and conviction is NWA era Ice Cube. He spit it hard.

So really, what about Kane?
I think he should be considered...even his guest appearances w/ groups like Jurrasic 5 and the Roots are top notch. Talk about flow...Kane can do it with the best of them.
