Sounds neat. I'll see if I can check them out.
Other albums released this year that I like are: PE'z, Art of Fighting, We vs. Death, Mice Parade, and Yoeko Kurahashi, but I'm liking this year less than 2006 so far. We'll see how the rest of 2007 works out.

Ryosuke,
I was actually thinking of starting this thread the other day and then I saw that you merrily beat me to it, which is just awesome.
Here's how you tell the difference between Deerhunter and Deerhoof.
Deerhunter is a super creepy, kind of psychedelic mind crawl and the singer is a very tall and very thin white guy and of course think of eating meat.
Deerhoof totally rocks out, has a very cute Japanese female singer who talks about being friends with bunnies, and is friendly to animals.
I think the new NIN might be his best record musically. I will give him kudos for trying to do something different with his lyrics, but some of them are pretty stupid. Having said that, there are definitely moments on that album that gives me chills. I think people should check it out. It's really good.
The new Pumpkins has a couple of scrubs from LA playing in the newly formed line-up. Me personally, I lost total faith in Corgan after "Mellon Collie". "Adore" was a fair album, "Machina" was a little above coasting mediocrity, "Zwan" was great, but that solo record of his was terrible wich a couple of shining moments. If you go to buddyhead.com/gossip, you can see who the two guys are that are going to be in the band. As far as the album, what I have heard is that it's pretty much going to be Corgan and Chamberlain ala "Siamese Dream" which could be either really good or another bloated ego wank fest.
The new Panda Bear is absolutely amazing but I've always dug Animal Collective so I can't see how you could go wrong with Panda Bear either.
I'm excited about the new QOTSA too.
The new Grinderman and Throbbing Gristle albums will be on my list as well.
This year, so far, has been one of the best years in new music in a long time.

Dear Kool, Tori Amos? TORI AMOS??!!!! ? You gotta be kidding me, right? Dude, you have amazing taste but like the Hall and Oates song goes: "I can't go for that".

pumpkins back together = billy, jimmy, and some ringers......imho, no james iha = no pumpkins. but whatever. I have to disagree with this. James Iha wasn't really that good. The Pumpkins were all about Billy's and Jimmy's playing. Besides, it was Corgan who wrote all the songs to begin with. Anything Iha wrote [or co-wrote] was usually garbage. But I'm skeptical about the album too. I totally agree with Skvor's comments about the gradual decline in the quality of Corgan's work from Adore to his recent, unlistenable solo album. I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

Dear Kool, Tori Amos? TORI AMOS??!!!! ? You gotta be kidding me, right? Dude, you have amazing taste but like the Hall and Oates song goes: "I can't go for that". haha. Speaking of Tori, that album just leaked and I listened to it once and it put me right to sleep. So she's off the list. To be honest, her first 4 albums were good but she's sucked since '99, and with this latest piece of crap, I'm giving up on her. Try as she may, she's no Kate Bush.

Dude, you hit the nail on the head for me: She's no Kate Bush.
I've always thought that she sounded WAY too much like Kate Bush. I actually like her first two records, but everything after that to me has just been awful. I did go see her live and I have to say she puts on one hell of a show despite the fact that her fans are just horribly rude.

James Iha did help write "Mayonaise" on Siamese Dream and that is one of my favorite songs on that album. Iha's not a bad player, but I have to agree that he is not neccesary.

So far, Year Zero is the album of 2007. Of course, it's only mid-April...

Man, it's good. The last song "Zero Sum" is really powerful. I am also really proud of Trent for being very political and calling some people out.

Year Zero is definitely the album I've listened to the most this year. So yeah, it's probably the best thing so far in 07. It doesn't get old either. I remember I stopped listening to With Teeth after about a week. Not that I didn't like it or anything, it's just that when you have a bunch of catchy tunes aimed at being hit singles, it gets old pretty fast. Unlike concept albums. YZ reminds me a little of Bowie's Outside in that respect. I wish they'd do a whole concept album together. Then I could die a happy man. I mean, could you imagine Bowie's voice on some of these tunes? It would have been killer.

I thought he was going to get Bowie Jr, Mr. Peter Murphy, to sing on some of these tunes after watching the videos of their collaborations on the nin site. I totally hear it.
I will now be listening to "I'm Afraid of Americans".

Oh man, hell yes ! Trent needs Bowie as much as Bowie could use Trent. That's a fabulous idea, Kool. And it's actually possible, of course, seeing as how they've toured & worked together in the past.
I freaked out when I removed the disc from my CD player, and it was totally white. I never knew or realized that the shit heats up that much in the player.
Ya learn somethin' new every day huh.

I thought it only turned white if you tried to rip mp3s with your computer. That's a great marketing trick btw.
