So what do you guys think ^that^ (by the way, I hate that cover and I'm a big Shephard fan) is going to sound like?

Judging by that first single, I think it's gonna be pretty loud. I think it'll be better than Machina and Adore... and I actually liked most of the stuff on those albums. It won't be as good as Siamese or Mellon Collie, but it will be still be very good.

Well damn you all, I like an album cover with lions killing things.
No real opinion on the Pumpkins yet. I'm too exhausted with Corgan to get the energy up to get excited about it.
I'm not a big White Stripes fan, but that new song is killer.

I don't like the PUmpkins cover, either. It looks like it belongs on a Ministry album or something... but not the pumpkins. Shrug.

Rage Against the Machine. As much as I hate those guys these days, that album cover would've been perfect for them.

Totally agree with you on that, Kool. I think that's the reason why I'm not all the jazzed about the Pumpkins is for them, that is a terrible album cover for them and what they represent to me. I haven't heard the new single yet and I'm not sure if I want to. I love "Gish", "Siamese Dream", "Pisces Iscariot" "Blue EP" and parts of "Siamese Dream". After that I just kind of roll my eyes until you get to "Zwan" which was a great record and then it goes back to shit after that. "Adore" really suffered from track sequencing to me and "Machina" had some great songs that were intermingled with some just total doo-doo.
I totally dig the Interpol cover though. Something about Lions ripping the flesh off of anything just seems cool to me.
Yes, that new White Stripes song is just smokin!

Every Pumpkins album pre-Machina was classic stuff (I'll defend Adore's greatness to my dying day), then you mix up the best of Machina with Machina II and throw out the dross and you have another classic. Even so... I can't get up for this new one. Sometimes you just shouldn't go back. I went to see Soft Cell play live last year, 'cos my mate had no other cunt stupid enough to care about him looking like a billy-no-mates, and I thought halfway through some tired retread of "Say Hello Wave Goodbye" you shouldn't even go back when all you're going back to is shit on a stick. Well that goes double for Corgan.
Btw, possibly my favourite release of this year so far is Beirut's Lon Gisland EP.
Bat For Lashes Fur and Gold will also be making my year-end list. Though I wish she wouldn't dress so annoyingly.

I think we had that Faint album until dolly's PC expired. I haven't heard it myself yet.
The best album of 2007 is - okay, will be - the debut from iLiKETRAiNS, slated for an Autumn release. Check out tracks like "Stainless Steel" (quite possibly the best song of all time) and "Spencer Perceval", or "The Beeching Report" and it's an inescapable conclusion. Move over Sigur Ros and Godspeed You Black Emperor, your time is gone... It's like Efrim Menuck took mind-control of Editors and filtered them through Thom Yorke's brain. Sheer brilliance.

Yeah, I'm thinking that it will probably be the end of the year before iLIKETRAiNS will be released in the states. Fucking hell, I have to wait so long not to pay outrageous import prices. I need someone to snatch me and give me some British citezenship.
I for one have been waiting very impatiently for the new Faint record.
Thumbs up on the new Wilco record from me. It's cool.

ooops. boo boo
I meant the Field titled "from here to sublime"
see, I could have gone to the prior post and just replaced 'faint' with 'field' but I haven't committed a bowiglouism for awhile!!
again, opinions on The Field?

I'm not a big White Stripes fan, but that new song is killer.
If it's called "Ickey Thump", I heard it the other day and you're exactly right.

I'm not that big a fan of Interpol (their debut album was pretty nice I guess), but I also like that album cover.
I'm slated to receive a burned copy of iLiKETRAiNS in the mail, so we'll see. Kind of stoked that JLLM and Skvor are hyping them as well.
Best album of the year for me is still Soil & "Pimp" Sessions. The new 65daysofstatic is nice, but I'm liking it less than One Time For All Time.

That's awesome that you like 65dos Skvor. I just knew you'd dig them. Which album have you heard? I have yet to hear their first album, but One Time For All Time is one of my favorite albums from this decade.
