And BTW, most of you guys know by now that a bunch of us used to have special "moderator-like super powers" over at RS.com, right? Ferdman had drafted more than a handful of long-time posters to help with keeping down on the trolling, etc. So when you'd see things all gone to hell, and then a half hour later it was all gone, it was often one of these senior posters, trying to do a little bit for the betterment of the boards. I actually mentioned it to Luke not long ago, and he had no idea. So I think it was still a secret to most people until, well, maybe just now. I'm not even sure I remember exactly who all was a part of that (I think I remember 5 of us--was that all?). Chatman had that whole thing set up so well, with everyone discussing issues via that email group, but then once he was gone the new group let it all go to hell. Rocky -- I know there were at least four (five? six?) of us from RS to here, but I think it was more than that total, as it seemed like we had pretty much all the major boards covered. I think it was ten or twelve total, somethin' like that ... Yeah, Chatman really had it worked out where we did a lot of the moderator work for him. |

I'm having a terrible time finding posts I wanted to respond to lately! I think it was Ken that mentioned something about spontaneous discussions that may be off topic yet very engaging breaking out on threads.
An excellent example of that is the dicussion that sprang up on the 'Best Singles' thread in Influential Music regarding the "censoring" of a line in "Start Me Up" when the Stones played at the Super Bowl this year. Everybody had something interesting to say on that, and the debate was pretty lively.
