Sorta esoteric though...
It's one of those you can turn round and round in your head...not sure that I read that profile FWIW.
~
As to who I've met...Howie's sat in this very office once, but a blizzard derailed our plans for pizza and beers...and I know we woulda had a ball. But he wasn't too wild about having to get back to the airport in the snow and with several beers under his belt. Wise.
Met *The Bear and his wife and took them on a 2 and a ½ hour Grand Tour of my favorite Chicago views when the came in to run the Chgo Marathon, what, October of 2003? Very nice people...
Had a ball talking with Don Pitcher on the phone several times....a ball of energy, most especially where music's concerned...

The only poster I've met is The Lady Of The Lake. We've hooked up plenty of times and seen KORN 2gether. She is an amazing lady, and beautiful to boot. ~ Posters I'd like to meet: Shane Simpson (about my oldest buddy from the old boards) Pissin (probaby my "best friend" on these boards, the person I relate to the most) JACkory Shin Blaney (well, duh) kMc DED Phil ekul Scottsy & Mel Layla (everyone wants to meet Layla. I would not even be disappointed if she turned out to be a 40 yr old overweight man, lol) Adam Weeping ~ Those are just the first that come to mind, off the top of my head, without checking the list. I'm sure there are others whom I've forgotten. Rockkid! Oh, you know I want to meet up with you . . . And who wouldn't want to hang out with Wholi? Next time I'm in Fla, I'll be lookin for one of his gigs...

Oh yeah, there's that freak livin up in the Great White NOrth . . . . (I'm lookin @u, Rileydawgie...) . . .and pattentank would be cool, we'd be sure to hit some awesome cutting edge shows . . . and maybe hit some waves with Bowiglou in San Diego some day (with all the beautiful people).
Tell the truth, there's no one on these boards I'd be averse to meeting up with. It would be interesting to have some cold beers with RocDoc.

Never met any of ya.
The only other poster within the local area here that I ever really talked to on the boards at all was Howe, and he's not really around much anymore. And back when we were most friendly on the boards, I was about 16 or 17, and it might have been a little weird to ask to borrow the car to go drive out to Macomb to hang out with some dude I know from the internet. Wouldn't have gone off very well.
But there are certainly plenty of posters past and present I would love to meet. One day perhaps...

I've never met anyone from the boards ... closest I've come would be a phone call from bowiglou that I missed (out of the office) a while back. Among the folks I'd be most interested in meeting face to face ... of course bowiglou and Mary (everyone wants to meet Mary, don't they?) (the "West Coast Intelligencia" should have at least one sit down before we see Phil, right? BTW, I'm really flattered to be included with those two in Phil's grouping) ... and it would be a lot of fun to have a meal with Phil le Scarecrow ... Rocky, JAC, Tuneschick and her SO, samples, RocDoc, the Bear, hell, lots of folks ... but I'm afraid it would take something akin to a Clash/Beatles reunion double-bill to get everyone together.

I almost forgot: I also met Kathman, when she & her husband & child were living in Vegas. A friend and I drove there on Valentines Day to see System Of A Down, and we met up with the Kathmans, toting a 30-pak of bud. She was a gracious hostess, we partied hard, and her presence is greatly missed on these boards.

Yeah! I wanted to see more pictures of her lil Stephen!
Shee-it, he's gotta be 3 by now!
Our 'Earth Mama' (but a young pretty Earth Mama!) is definitely missed....
I also have talked to the wildwoman, SheRocks on the phone several times....and please believe it when I say she's honestly got a heart of gold. Beneath that gruffly-posting exterior.
A great raucous voice too...

Well......here's the deal, if any of you cats are ever in Austin, you can always give me a call and I'll regale you with my dark sense of humor and talk your ear off about music. I will also take you to all the record stores and we can make fun of the hipsters together. I've been in a social mood and I would love to meet anyone and everyone.

I actually did meet the mysterious, elusive, multiple-personality-suffering Dobs. Many many years ago (5 and a half, to be precise). We wandered around the Mission district in San Francisco and argued about postmodernism. Seriously. We also saw Bad Religion at the Warfield. Haha. He was very, um, inquisitive. Obviously extremely smart. That's the only RS'er I've ever met. I'd love to meet lots of you, of course... bowiglou and I had a near miss, he was in SF for a day or two but it was a time when I couldn't get away from Berkeley... and skvor, alas, I was in austin finally, back when you were in philly! Had a great time in yer lovely city, though I want to have a slumber party with the ladies of rs - ueb, lumencandle, dwazee, tuneschick.... anyone I've forgotten? Also I want dwazee to take me to an art museum and give me some lessons, and lumen to take me to a dance recital and give me some lessons. I wanna go to the beach with bowiglou so I can watch him surf. I wanna take Ken Holzman to New Wave City on one of their Clash tribute nights. I want to go to the great French cafe in the Mission with Phil and have him regale me with tales of travel from his misspent youth. I want to go out drinking with rocdoc and stratman, to prove to both of 'em that just cause i'm a crazy socialist chick in SF doesn't mean i can't drink like a champion, swear like a sailor, talk shit about sports, and hang out with crusty old conservative dudes I want to see Iggy Pop with Rocky Sigman (ok I suppose bowiglou needs to come along for that too! But I was thinking more along the lines of detroit pride...) I wanna have a cheesy grossout b-horror movie fest with ekul and skvor, where we just hang out and watch zombie movies and get wasted. I wanna have a classic film fest with weeping and punkchick. Phil could also be invited to that one, to give erudite lectures about the history of film and thorngrub my friend, if you want to dance with me, we can go to the ruby room in oakland and dance the night away (that was not out of the blue, but a reference to another board - i swear!) I want jllm, dollybeadz, iftm, and angel to give me a tour of london. I want strawman and glenh just to give me a tour of their personal record collections. ...and i wanna have arcane academic arguments with kenny! ....ok. well. if i've left you off the list, it's because i hate you. just kidding - it's because you simply slipped my mind, of course. i'll gladly meet anyone here! Cheers, M

I have the Bava, Fulci, Argento, and many other special editions and Criterion collections with a 8 pack of Boddington's ready for that.
Yuck, I honestly was pretty sad that I had been in Philadelphia for as long as I was. West is the only place for me..........the East is a Beast, man.

Please don't leave me outta that Iggy show either! This 'crusty old' whatever STILL has it in him to rock insanely... So true. I've seen him twice now. Solo in May 2001, and with the Stooges (with Mike Watt on bass) in August 2003 (I believe Shane owns this show on DVD?). Amazing stuff, especially with the Stooges. The Asheton brothers can still bring it too, trust me.

M and I discussing pop art...that's what I call a good time. Aesthetics plus beer = trouble for all involved.

Off the top of my head (posters I'd like to meet):
Ndy Vik (Please come back!) DED Shin thorn Pissin maarts Mary Holzman Layla Rit trace Res JLLM Toklon dollybeadz
The list goes on and on...oh, and louee, so I could deck her in the face.
In all seriousness, I've always wanted to get together with people here, if only because the party would be tremendous, conservatives and less conservatives alike.

And because, to be honest, I am caught in a circle where all I can discuss is uber pretentious literary thought, and I am kinda burnnig out...
