The Not So Mighty Snake Killer

It is a common belief that the Mongoose is the ultimate foe of the cobra. The Mongoose is therefore treated as a saviour protecting humanity from the ruthless reign of the venomous snake. However careful research has shown than a mongoose would rather avoid a cobra rather than go for a direct confrontation. The mongoose is capable of killing a cobra but the outcome of a confrontation between the two often ends up with a draw. A cobra cannot directly kill a mongoose in combat but the mongoose is not immune to cobra venom and has a high risk of dying of toxaemia if bitten during the fight.
