After ROTS, I kinda lost a lot of interest in Star Wars...I still have a soft spot, but really, in hind sight two of the movies are fantastic and the rest are all kinda weak. AOTC, PM, and ROTJ are almost unwatchable to me now....Parts of each I like, but at the same time there are moments in those three movies, well and ROTS too, that are very cringe worthy. ANH, and ESB are near flawless.

I think Attack Of The Clones is one of the worst big budget movies ever made. Outside of a couple cool special effects their is aboslutely nothing redeeming about it. I agree that ANH and ESB are the only two that are really good.

At first I thougth AOTC was WAY better than PM, but after watching all six last year, I think I like PM more....both are pretty bad, but Liam Neeson (sp?) really carries the latter. Still, after ROTS, I realized what a big waste of 6 years these prequels were, and that Georgie boy really missed a golden opportunity to make three classic films that tied in with the Original Trilogy. Where to even start w/ the plot holes and missed opportunities? I'm convinced that if fans would've made 1 through 3 they would be much, much better than what George came up with.

Worstness doesn't enter my head before during or after watching Star Wars movies. They're Star Wars movies. True, they are not acts of parliament. And they are not fusion reactors. However, as Star Wars movies go - they pretty much kick ass well & goodly, like. It's like, when I look out at the stars themselves, I don't complain. I don't think "God dammit, but they just don't twinkle enough". Or "Why the fuck can't these stars' colors be more plainly evident? I want those purples and greens to blind me!" Similarly, I take the Stars Wars movies for what they are. Big fat shiny Star Wars movies. And that's good enough for me

Nor do I look for redemption in my Star Wars movies. A momentary escape -? Perhaps. A decent yarn? Surely. Great acting -? *scoffs*, nay. There's some pretty cool space ships in there, though.

They're not fusion reactors, but they are good Star Wars movies. There's stuff I love in every movie ... the light saber battles in PM; Ewan channeling Alec Guiness in Clones; all of ROTS; all of the original classic; all but the damn space-slug in Empire; and the entirety of the remastered version of Jedi (not the original with its damn "yub-nub" Ewok songs!). By the same token, there are things that I'd change about every film (except the original), but ultimately these films comprise a marvelous mythic tale. There's no denying the scope of Lucas' vision, and the visuals he's constructed for even the worst of these films are nothing short of breath-taking. There's nothing wrong with Clones or Phantom Menace that a few well placed hits of the mute button can't fix.

Or just a few well placed hits, period. (It helps;)

Sorry fellas, I think they're even piss poor Star Wars movies. There's no reason you can't apply some standards to them and if all you judge them on is special effects then I'd tell you they're overdone and that much CGI still looks terrible. Lucas is for shit at writing and directing and really shows on the last couple. I'm all for shutting up and just enjoying a movie but I can't imagine any amount of weed could make the last half hour of Clones acceptable on any level.

But I'm not just judging them on FX. You'll just have to accept that I like them, and you don't. I'm certainly not going to suggest you're wrong for not liking them. I even think the makeup-FX for the aliens is pretty fake looking, even in the last ones. Total prosthetics, plain to see. Takes away from the "believability" (if you let it). But see, I just roll w/it. Perhaps in a similar fashion to how audiences "rolled" w/the old Ray Harryhausen FX, like in the Sinbad movies and shit. Man, those creatures were fake as fuck! But it didn't phase nobody none.
I don't see much difference between the Lucas -helmed Star Wars movies and those old stop-motion puppetry -laden flicks of yore. Except of course that the Star Wars movies look 1000 times better !

Much like ThoRn, I just like all six movies. They're not perfect, but I love 'em anyway.
But I could never be in a long term relationship with someone who didn't love Star Wars, so I'm afraid we're through DED. While I respect your tastes, I just can't be with someone who is immune to the powers of The Force. ;D

But I'm not just judging them on FX. I thought I'd elaborate on this statement I made. There is a lot more than the nifty FX invested into these movies, for me. The characters, for instance. I'll tell you what. But I did not particularly care for Ewan McGregor in Episode 1. By the the IInd episode, however, I'd warmed up to him. And by the IIIrd, I had come to fully appreciate him in that role, as much as any other actor in the original trilogy. And take Qui Gon Jjin (sp?) played by Liam Neeson - fantastic. All those rubbery -masked aliens copping quasi-asian or otherwise exotic features, well they left me cold. But I can (and did) overlook that. A trifling detail not worth derailing the train, so to speak. And their screen shots were quick enough, so that weren't nuthin but a thang. CP30 and R2D2 -? Hell yes, they are the central characters in the entire series, and they did no wrong, not once. I freakin cheered inside when it showed R2 being selected as the brave lil droid who survived the space battle. Queen Amidala ? Perhaps one of the worst aspects of the new movies. Natalie Portman became more wooden w/each successive installment, until the final one, where I swear to god they could have saved paying her salary and simply used a cardboard cutout of her, instead. Yeah, she sucked. Bigtime. A triviality when compared against the sweeping scope of the entire epic. Hayden Christensen as Anakin? He was fine in the role. People seem to have a huge problem w/him, but I never did. Oh well. I don't know, call me a sucker for wide-angle futurist landscapes and bumbling robots. But I loved all 6 of these horrible, rank crapfests.

I'm sorry to hear that, Ken, I thought we were in it for the long haul but I suppose it just wasn't meant to be. In the settlement I'd just like the original theatrical versions of the A New Hope & Empire Strikes Back, you can have the others. Special editions and all. You deserve them and I hope whomever you choose to watch them with makes you happy.

DED, I'm glad you understand. And as a last gesture, I'll even let you have the original theatrical release of Return of the Jedi as well. If I never have to hear goddamned Ewoks singing again, I'll be a happy friggin' camper.

*sigh*, yeah. . . I'm sure they could've been better, but so could anything&everything be better. I'm happy to take the Star WArs movies just as they are, warts, stiff acting, & all.

on that note: Raise your hand if you think George Lucas will renege on his decision to end the series @ 6, and decide to let it continue for one final trilogy. Now raise your other hand if you're psyched for em
*raises both hands*
