Lionel Richie - Best: You Are/Worst: Running With the Night ("You and me on the town, ooh, we let it all hang out...we were running with the night, playing with the shadows..." Wow, Lionel, you're a wild man! So dangerous and scary!!!)
Paula Abdul - Best: Rush Rush/Worst: Vibeology (I still recall when she appeared on some awards show singing this song, totally fat and out of shape AND totally out of tune. Scary.)
The Bangles - Best: If She Knew What She Wants/Worst: Eternal Flame
Taylor Dayne - Best: Oh holy crap. They all sound the same to me. I guess "Prove Your Love"/Worst: The remake of "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe". I hate it when artists whose careers are slipping do a remake just to try and get an easy hit out of it. Stinks of desperation.
Hall & Oates - Best: Say It Isn't So/Worst: that one they did with Bon Jovi
Roxy Music/B.Ferry - Best: To Turn You On/Worst: Do The Strand
Guns N' Roses - Best: Welcome to the Jungle/Worst: Live and Let Die
Tom Petty - Best: Free Fallin'/Worst: Don't Come Around Here No More. The song was horrible, the video was even worse.

Lionel Richie - Brick House/Truly (ugh!)
Paula Abdul - oh god ... everything sucked so hard, but I guess Straight Up would be her "peak" (such as it was) ... gotta agree that Vibeology was one of the worst singles of the nineties.
The Bangles - Best is really hard ... but I'll take their cover of Hazy Shade of Winter by the slimmest of margins over If She Knew What She Wants (while thanking them for giving steller songwriter Jules Shears some much needed royalties) ... worst: easy, Eternal Flame.
Taylor Dayne - Best? Um, how about Tell It To My Heart, since that's the only one I can remember. Worst? Everything else.
Hall & Oates - Best is again awfully tough ... comes down to Sara Smile or Rich Girl, and since I'm feeling more "up" today, I'll go for Rich Girl ... worst ... Kiss On My List sounds embarrasingly dated today.
Roxy Music/B.Ferry - Love is the Drug/... can't think of any Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry that would really qualify as "worst" ... one of Ferry's overly synthed numbers probably.
Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child o' Mine/Knocking on Heaven's Door (one of the worst covers in rock and roll history, and likely the worst version of a Dylan song ever, even worse than William Shatner performing Mr. Tambourine Man).
Tom Petty - Refugee (though I gave serious thought to a bunch of other songs, including Don't Come Around Here No More) ... worst is probably The Last DJ, which just sounds hackneyed and cranky (although the rest of the album isn't bad).

Stevie Wonder - Masterblaster (jammin) / worst: I just called to say I love you. Patti Smith - this one's tough, but I'll go with 'Dancing Barefoot'. Still gives me goose bumps every time I hear it to this day. worst: that 'Cannibal' song from a few years back. U2 - Bullet the Blue Sky / The Sweetest Thing Fleetwood Mac - Gypsy / Don't Stop Cyndi Lauper - She Bop / Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Phil Collins (solo) - Sussudio / 'Everyday' from the terrible album 'Both Sides'.

Stevie Wonder: Superstition/Ebony and Ivory (a real low point for both Macca and Stevie) Patti Smith: Because the Night/Hey Joe (version) U2: this is insanely tough ... for today, Where the Streets Have No Name/A Night at the Heartbreak Hotel (a simply horrid Rattle and Hum era outtake) Fleetwood Mac: Go Your Own Way/ ... really tough to pick a bad FM song, as I'm just not that familiar with their entire catalog ... so I'll go with the much overplayed Don't Stop Cyndi Lauper: Money Changes Everything/True Colors Phil Collins (solo): I Missed Again/anything from Tarzan

Hey maarts, we agree on Petty! And I'd have a hard time arguing with Bad as U2's best ... though Vertigo is nowhere near as bad as some of their (justifiably) more obscure tunes ... such as their horrid cover of Happiness is a Warm Gun, or even the atrocious Hawkmoon from Rattle and Hum. Just MHO of course ...

Stevie Wonder - Jungle Fever / Ribbon in the Sky Patti Smith - don't know enough of her stuff U2 - With or Without You / Vertigo Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way / Don't Stop Thinking about Tomorrow Cyndi Lauper - True Colors / Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - not really a bad song, just doesn't do much for her talent Phil Collins (solo) - Why Can't It Wait 'Til Morning / You'll Be In My Heart

Stevie Wonder - Best: You Haven't Done Nothin'/Worst: I Just Called To Say I Love You (Ebony and Ivory is actually slightly worse, but it was Macca's tune so he gets the blame, not Stevie) Patti Smith - Best: Redondo Beach/Worst: Piss Factory (I'm sure it was groundbreaking at the time, but it's almost comical now) U2 - Best: One/Worst: Jesus Christ Fleetwood Mac - Best: Hypnotized/Worst: Big Love, acoustic live version (great tune, but Lindsay Buckinham really can't sing anymore) Cyndi Lauper - Best: She Bop/Worst: Her cover version of "What's Going On" Phil Collins (solo) - Best: I Missed Again/Worst: oh, such a large pile of crap to dig through...let's go with "One More Night"

U2 Best: Discotheque Worst: With Or Without You
Fleetwood Mac Best: Sara Worst: Yeah, this isn't hard... anything when Lindsay and/or Stevie and/or Christine McVie weren't involved.
Cyndi Lauper Best: She Bop Worst: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (gay as fuck)
Phil Collins I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite. - American Psycho
Yeah, I fucking hate Phil Collins
Beastie Boys Best: Sure Shot Worst: Fight For Your Right
Motley Crue Best: Kickstart My Heart Worst: Smokin' In The Boys Room
REM Best: Man On The Moon (I fucking love Andy Kaufman) Worst: Stand

why the hell is everyone saying Welcome To The Jungle is Gn'R's best?? Simply because it is. 'Coma' is indeed a great track, but 'Welcome to the Jungle' kicks MAJOR ass!! Everything about this song is amazing. The build up/intro, the guitar solo, the bridge (with the famous line 'When you're high, you never, ever wanna come down') and Axl speed-singing "Watch it bring you to your.... kn-kn-kn-kn-kn-kn-knees!" It's just a totally brilliant, original piece of music. And even the video was cool.
