To the 5 Boroughs was rated higher than any other B-Boys album, which is a total joke to me. Their finest moments were definitely Check Your Head and Ill Communication.

i can give or take the beastie boys. they have some decent songs, but they seem like the kinda band where they're fun to listen to every now and then, but listening to an entire album is a bit too much.

thanks Tunes..I do have a couple of Undertones albums from way back then.....I think it was their 2nd and 3rd release, and I loved them..but I think I have to get their debut..I couldn't stop hitting the 'repeat' button yesterday to Teenage Kicks......
plus, does anyone know anything about the Wierdos?...I've read a little bit about them in a recent book on LA punk I got, but their song, and title of the book: "We got the Neutron Bomb" is kinda enaging.......

Bow, that was me, not tunes!!! Though she'll be happy to hear I'm loving the debut. ;D
And how is We Got The Neutron Bomb? I've seen that book in Barnes & Noble, and it looks very interesting, like an L.A. version of Please Kill Me.

Bow...the Undertones debut is the only Undertones really worth owning...can't believe how good that record is and how fucking bad Fergals solo career was...
listening to Emergency and I...The Dismemberment Plan The Have...S/T Betchadupa....The Alphabetchadupa (this is one for all you Neil Finn fans...its his boys Liam band, and he can write a tune too) #4 record...You Am I Space Waltz..Space Waltz (this is a blast from my younger days..yeah probably the best NZ album of 1975 and how could it fail with Eddie Rayner (Split Enz), Greg Clarke (Citizen Band), Brent Eccles (Citizen Band, The Angels) and Alistair Riddell)...pure NZ glam....

oops, sorry punk......so per you and Straw, I just may have to get the Undertones debut.and straw, fearguls first solo LP wasn't too bad...though it was bit on the slick-Phil Collins side.....
right now I"m listening to a best of Pretenders....gawd, I loved Chrissie Hynde back then...I thought she was the cat's meow
oh Straw, that Space Waltz sounds very interesting...where the hell do you learn about these new bands?.......I feel so utterly out of it these days......

punkchick..you're exactly right..it is a LA version of Please Kill Me, though I found the characters in the NY scene infinitely more interesting (even though some of the lou reed stories somewhat disconcerted me)...........but if you have any interest in the LA scene, from the Doors (yes, they refer to him as the first punk!!!...........ah, redemption is nice!!), to X to the Germs to the Slash label/characters, you'll find it quite interesting..............

Lightning strikes twice. This second collaboration between Wilco, Billy Bragg, and the spirit/lyrics of Woody Guthrie is even more consistent than the first, and just as good. These 2 Mermaid Avenue albums together form quite a magnificent little project. "Secrets of the Sea" is the his single that was never to be on Wilco's Summer Teeth.

If there's anything that volume 2 isn't, it's consistent. The best tunes on that album are great, but it is amazingly spotty.
