I think that Destroyed Legacy would be a fair name for a band.

Oh man, I don't even know why they are calling that new David Johanssen record "The New York Dolls". I haven't heard it yet, but I believe it's going to suck. I was actually referring to his whole Buster Poindexter persona when I nominated him for the destroyed legacy crown, but yeah, bringing back a bastardized version of the New York Dolls has certainly dimished it even further.

I don't have much to add to the Weezer burning, other than that their only bad album's Maladroit and they'd just be considered a mediocre pop group if it wasn't for their first two albums. I'll admit that I'm amused by the people who hate them (considering how much worse there is out there), though.
Dave Grohl has always been, and always will be, greater than Courtney Love.
I was never a big fan to begin with, but the obvious winner of this thread is Metallica.

I'd say Make Believe is much, much worse than Maladroit, which at least has a few decent songs on it. Uh oh, here comes Amp.

Make Believe isn't a tremendously interesting album (it's conventional to a fault... a trademark of the "new" Weezer), but it has some worthwhile tunes which, until I suddenly lost all desire to listen to them, were quality easy listening. Perfect Situation and Damage In Your Heart are respectable for what they are.
Maladroit is just awful no matter which way you slice it... to the point that I can't listen to it in completion. Helped me get to sleep, anyway.

Dave Grohl wouldn't have the nuts to make an experimental record with Kim Gordon like the first Hole record. Everything after that has been terrible, but that record is a gem. He's probably one of the top ten drummers of the last ten years and he's written some decent songs, but I fear that Grohl has always played a little safe, with the exception of Probot. Maybe that's why I hated the Foo Fighters even more. After that Probot record I really thought it was a sell out emo poser.

I've got two for you that make me very angry: 1. The Misfits releasing terrible record after terrible record without Glen Danzig (hence why they are terrible) Agree on The Misfits. And with Danzig getting knocked on his ass on the internet, I don't think there's much hope for those guys. Or Danzig either since about release #4 of his self-named band. blackacidevil? fuck, I'd punch him out just for that!

That poor guy. I will admit that I will be drug into buying a new album of his. He's doing "Black Aria II" and I really like the first one. He's cheesy Wagnerian classical stuff is really fun to listen to.

I have the best Danzig joke ever, but it's one of those that is physical comedy. Not one that works well on message boards. Just go to your friends and raise your arms up like a monkey and ask, "Who am I?" Then just reply that you are Glenn Danzig mowing the lawn.

Nice idea for a thread.
Patton after FNM has diversified as well, not everything has been good but most of it is at least interesting
In the spirit of being pedantic, FNM was only the biggest act Patton has been with, not the first, so it can't really taint the rest of his catalogue. Anyway, the man is a genius.

1. The Misfits releasing terrible record after terrible record without Glen Danzig (hence why they are terrible) 2. The Dead Kennedys. Touring with out Jello is like a drummer trying to play drums without his arms and legs.
Just out of interest, have you heard 'Sieg Howdy!' (or 'Never Breathe What You Can't See')? If so, what do you think of the Biafra-Melvins combo?

Dave Grohl is awesome. When he plays drums in other people's bands. I thought the Foo Fighters started out with so much promise, but they're just by-the-numbers pop rock. I remember the first time I heard Marigold & I was excited to think of Grohl solo or as a principal songwriter for a band. That was around the time when I thought Metallica covering the Misfits was, like, the coolest thing EVER

The Melvins Biafra pairing is fucking awesome and genius. Both records are just amazing that I can't stop listening to them. Biafra doesn't sound a day over 20!

I didn't know if they could pull it off, the first few listens sounded like Biafra had some trouble laying his voice over their guitars, but it grew on me pretty darn quick after that.
I was listening to an interview with Tom Morello the other day. He sounded really excited to be in Audioslave. He went on about how much he enjoys being in that band. It was almost defensive.

Dudes, I'm gonna say it. Red Hot Chilli Peppers? Beastie Boys after 2 HORRIFIC in a row? I don't know, but I find myself wondering if I'm looking at RHCP after their prime holding Frusciante back and if the Beastie Boys have lost their Mojo.
