THe Razor's Edge isn't horrible, Thunderstruck and Money Talks were good singles. Who Made Who isn't really an album but the song is great.

The Misfits and the DKs are something else though. It's always a mistake to reform wothout the creative center of the orginal band, it's also tough to admit that it wasn't you who's responsible for your band's success.

May not be to everyone's taste, but Genesis certainly didn't do too badly after Gabriel left. 10,000 Maniacs after Natalie Merchent departed were certainly pretty pointless, at least IMHO. And King Tongue w/o JACkory were just horrible!

Eh, I chalk up Phil Genesis to Van Hagar, where the music just goes to poo but is a bit more commercially successful.
Reminds me of the Phil Collins chapter in American Psycho...bahaha...
Agreed on Maiden with the singer thing. There's a lot of bands who changed singers before they got huge, and that often works. It's bands that have made it and then switch where things start getting fucked up.

I can't say that Genesis really got worse w/Phil singing lead. Once they found their feet as a more song-oriented band (with Duke and Abacab, I'd say), they made some solid albums and some fine singles.
Of course, I think that Gabriel Genesis is largely overrated, and that most of those albums are bloated art-rock wankery. So the more song-oriented approach that they took in the eighties was at least conceptually more to my liking.
I'm not wild about VH, with Diamond Dave or Slammin' Sammy on vocals, in general. There are a few singles with each singer I enjoy (Panama, Why Can't This Be Love), but if I never heard another Van Halen cut in my life it wouldn't bother me in the least.

You're all crazy. Everybody knows that the quintessential Van Halen singer was Gary Cherone.

I always thought that Maiden was pretty popular even before Dickenson and alot of fans were pissed at first after the line up change. Some, even to this day, say that best stuff is without Dickenson.
Dude, Ken, Gabriel Genesis overrated? You're gonna tell me that some kidney bean looking freak with one little hair on his head is better "The Lamb Lies On Brodway" or "Foxtrot"? The guy who sang "Psudio" or whatever the hell that was? You're out of your mind, man.
