Rocky, you look like Matthew Broderick in your avatar. Do the ladies like Matthew Broderick? I have no idea how to take this...

Here are some cool lyrics from Mr. Davies I came across...
This song "Skin and Bone" is pretty funny, and fun, but also quite visionary. Just think, this song was released in 1971, and it's basically about the Atkins Diet. Who other than Mr. Davies could come up w/ this kind of stuff?
Fat Flabby Annie was incredibly big She weighed just about sixteen stone And then a fake dietician went and put her on a diet Now she looks like skin and bone She looks like skin and bone
Do the meditation and yoga And she's thrown away the good food guide And she's given up the alcohol and pizzas And the pies and now she looks as if she's ready to die, You can't see her walk by
Don't eat no mashed potatoes, Don't eat no buttered scones Stay away from carbohydrates You're gonna look like skin and bone.
Living on the edge of starvation And she says she's got no appetite And her father and her mother And her sisters and her brothers Couldn't see her when she walked by You can't see her walk by.
She don't eat no mashed potatoes, She don't eat no buttered scones Stay away from carbohydrates You're gonna look like skin and bone.
She used to be so cuddly, She used to be so fat, But oh what a sin cos she's oh so thin That she lost all the friends that she had, She looks like skin and bone
If you look flabby And you feel overweight, And you wanna lose a couple of stone, Take a crash course diet do your daily exercises And you'll look like skin and bone.
Come on rattle them bones, Put your hands up to the ceiling, Bend your hips and touch your toes, Do your daily exercises, You're gonna look like skin and bone,
Don't eat no mashed potatoes, Don't eat no buttered scones Don't eat no carbohydrates You're gonna look like skin and bone.

Skin and Bone - I love that song. Definitely qualifies as visionary - Ray the prophet foresaw the crumbling of Dr Atkins empire! Funnily enough I was listening to it only the other day just after his lordship was accusing me of being too skinny (as if) Mantis (I feel funny calling you that) I would buy your clear vinyl Kinks album! Your record store looks cool btw, could do with something like that here in Coventry. Paul - if I manage to get anywhere near Ray next month I'll tell him he needs to tour DC. Cheers for the Amazon link btw - that does look like a worthy addition to anyone's Kinks collection.

That would be awesome!!!! (re: telling Ray to come to DC).To my surprise, a lot of the indie rockers in this town are hip on the Kinks....They don't know them like I know them, but it's nice to see some fellow Kinks fans around. I've worn my Kinks shirt only once out in public here in DC, and the night I wore it, I got like 8 compliments.
On that BBC CD, there is a killer version of "Waterloo Sunset"; it's a tad more upbeat, and they added a piano player. I don't know if it's better than the studion version, but it's a great listen nontheless.

Thanks again! trust me, it's my pleasure to spread the glorious music of the Kinks.... After you're done dissecting the two mixes, I have a third one of later Kinks albums. Though not as great as their 60's material, there are some top quality tunes from the 70's and early 80's....
