I have the tickets in me mits - I'm excited. I love going gigging in London anyway, but see the greatest living legend of the 60s pop scene is extra-special.
I wonder if he'll wear his Union Jack jubilee suit like he did last time....

Been trying to track down Ray's autobiog "XRay" for some time in the bookshops of Cov, but have been having no joy - so I popped into Ottakers again today to see if perhaps they might order it for me. But shock! horror! It's been out of print since 1995 and the only thing she could recommend was Amazon, Ebay or this out of print specialists.
I've tried all 4 of the major booksellers around here and none of them have any book at all on Ray - or even The Kinks as a band - for that matter. Considering Ray's contribution to the world of music and his importance as one the most talented observationalist songwriters this country has ever prodiuced, well, quite frankly it is a disgrace.
I think action needs to be taken to reinstate Ray's status as a bonafide Rock legend who is as deserving of our attention and respect as any one of the Beatles or the Stones.

I agree!!! Lets start the Kinks Appreciation Preservation Society....
Well I love the idea of a Kinks thread, but have a feeling you and I may be the only ones who frequent this spot....
I've been working on some Kinks mixes, and I'm hoping to get a few out to people on this board so they can get a taste of the great forgotten band of the British Invasion.

I think Maarts and the Doc like a bit of Ray too. Seriously though, I always feel bad if I take over a thread with something no one else is likely to be interested in - so I thought I'd create one. Ray deserves his own thread anyway. NP: Village Green Rarities disc.

At the Queen's jubilee. He wore this when my sis and I saw him in Sheffield. We nearly wet our pants.

Nice jacket, fitting for Ray...
Have you (or anyone here) heard any of the BBC Sessions? It's a two disc set, it's pretty good and has lots of lesser known Kinks diddy's like: Skin And Bones, Mirror of Love, Harry Rag, Mindless Child of Motherhood, Did You See His Name, and This Strage Effect. It's far from perfect, but it's cool to have lots of live versions of some lesser known Kinks songs.

Is that different to the Great Lost albums? If so, then no I haven't. And I don't recognise those song titles either.
Do you have it? Or are you trying to get hold of it?
Having trouble finding Xray on Amazon....

At our store we've had some Kinks on vinyl (Lola, Face to Face, Low Budget), all have been sold. When we get cds in of the Kinks they don't stay on the floor very long either....all we have right now is the Kink Kronicles.
Arthur has been a very popular album at the store; I hope that album, after 30 some odd years, will catch on one of these days...
