NP: Muse - Black Holes and Revelations - Starlight (one of my favourite Muse songs) I have 2 weeks off for Easter - should be going to France if JLLM gets over his tonsillitis in time (Tuesday!). School's ok thanks - Economics is tough when you've had v. little formal training in it, and a loooong time ago - but I'm getting there. One of my classes is full of arrogant boys though, and they're always trying to give me a hard time. My others are lovely though and more than make up for this. It truly amazes me how little most folks know about the Kinks. I was one of them like two years ago, thankfully I saw the light. Haha - substitute Kinks for Jesus and you sound like a whacko Born Again Christian. I think you might like the last Muse - it's quite rocking in places. And everyone loves the end track - Knights of Cydonia. One of the best closers of an album ever I reckon. Well, I am kinda whacko! But I prefer passionate ;D Hope JLLM feels better soon, tonsillitis sucks. Does he have a sweet tooth? Ice cream is always good medicine for that sort of thing.

I wanna be a completist! I like your description of Village Green as sounding 'spooky'. I always think of that now - I guess you're kind of right. I was surprised Ray chose to play that when I saw him at sheps Bush over the title track. I wonder what he'll play in May..... I badly want him to play Shangri-La - but I know he won't

Oh yeah, you can go iTunes from some Preservation songs...
I'll let you know about that last Muse cd, so far for the most part I dig what I'm hearing. I'm not in love with it like the Kinks, but I do indeed like. I just noticed you used the word reckon - that's awesome. Cats around my neck of the woods always crack on me for saying reckon -- they say I sound like a dumb hick, but I tell them that it's old school England talk, and they don't believe me. Anyway, I use that word all the time. It should be used more often.

Oh he's hitting the ice cream BIG TIME! I also bought him some Mango sorbet which he's enjoying. Trying to wean him onto something a little more healthy!
Saying that though, I think he's lost half a stone. I just tell him he's only lost all the pies he's eaten over the course of the year. Don't want him getting complacent ;D

And there's nowt wrong wi the way we speak My Northampton kids laugh at the way I speak all of the time. I'm pretty posh sounding for a northern bird, but I do have the odd lilt to my voice.

The only ones from that album I've heard live are Brainwashed, Victoria, and She's Bought A Hat Like Princess Marina. VG is spooky as hell, it has a very dark tone to it - at least to my ears.

Reckon is common down in the Southern U.S. too. I have no idea why it never caught on, it's a really cool word. As is yonder. Is that from your parts too?

Eeeeh out back o' yonder down't gitty m'laddie!
Oh yes - yonder - I use that one too. Those Southerner's don't know good dialect when they hear it.
Incidentally, I love 'city of delusion' of Muse Black Holes.... it makes me think of ice-skating russians. I'm not sure why. Perhaps because I've had one can of lager and I'm a lightweight.
Y'know ice-skating as a competitive sport is making a real big comeback in this country. for real.

"Eeeeh out back o' yonder down't gitty m'laddie!"
What the hell does that mean?
Did you mean Southerners know good dialect when we here it? It's all the yankees in this country that don't say yonder and reckon....
Don't watch House, but it gets great reviews....maybe I'll watch a few on DVD to catch up...
Alright, chat w/ you later.

So HMV has got Percy back in stock. I seem to recall the reviews for this are pretty appalling. Really trying to save at the moment, yet couldn't resist picking up the Grinderman CD - which I'm really enjoying incidentally. I don't know whether I should be in a rush to buy this just yet seeing as how I've got quite a way to go towards completism. I feel I'm letting the side down, but with the prospct of a foreign holiday in summer, a new mortgage (hopefully), and a possible ring on my finger (I really shouldn't jinx by saying that I do realise), I'm not sure I should lay out the dosh. I'm torn between prudence and expanding my collection. And part of me wants to fabricate an issue I need to post on the Ray Board as a demonstration of commitment to still posting on the Castaways *cough*

Ps: I have a job interview on Wednesday - I real nice high achieving school!
Found out after being threatened with violence by one of my delightful pupils, so it cheered up an otherwise piss-poor day all in all.

Good luck on your job interview Will you be teaching the same courses and grade level? Or will this be a whole new gig?

When I get my computer, I'll burn you a copy. Save your loot for 'Preservation Act 1' Rumor has it that either in May or June we'll see new Mac laptops. I hope they change the name from Mac Book Pro back to Power Book, I think the latter sounds way cooler. Keep the Mac Book for the entry level stuff, and have the Power Book for the pros/high end. Hmm, maybe I'll send Steve Jobs an email.... Anyway, yeah, hold off on Percy. As a die-hard fan, you'll like a lot of it, but it's definitely sub-par from the rest of the golden era catalog. Those Pounds would be better spent saving for a mortgage, or on a better Kinks album.

Hey thanks mate. Ok, I'll hold off then. Thought I remembered Percy being one of the less critically acclaimed works. Normally that wouldn't bother me, but like I say - I guess saving for a mortgage comes first. I hate being curtailed in such a manner!
Unfortunately HMV/Virgin hasn't got Pres Act I. Every now and then I forlornley check Amazon and Ebay, but thus far nothing.
