And here is the first "Post of the Day" in the new revived series ... congratulations to Shin, for the funniest, and simultaneously most spot-on disection of the issues at hand, post on a now very convaluted thread. You know what else proves that the soul exists? Fatboy Slim's "Rockafeller Skank". Think about it. "Right about now, the Funk Soul Brother. Check it out now, the Funk Soul Brother." Let's dissect this. 1) The "Funk" is not in dispute. Bootsy Collins alone proves the Funk is tangent. Ergo, if the Funk is real, then the Soul must follow suit. 2) Norman Cook asks us to "check it out now" "right about now". Simply put, he makes not only a claim as to both the substance and time of Soul's existence ("Right about now"), he also declares his findings open to critique ("Check it out now"). At no point in the song does he go "I highly doubt, the Funk Soul Brother", or concurrently, "I'm unable to prove, the Funk Soul Brother". And neither do we, for that matter. 3) He says it about 83 times in the song, and you can't get away telling a single lie that often and that frequently unless you work in the Bush Administration. 4) Christopher Walken flies in one of his videos. I mean, it's a different song, but, damn, I'll get behind anything that man says if you can get Christopher Walken to defy gravity. The man has supernatural powers. You can pick up your Rileybucks voucher from the nicely attired gentleman in the hall. Accepted at free web sites everywhere.

Today's POD (thanks Sisyphus) ... from the "Stop Calling Me a Troll Board" ... on the subject of gay troll marriage, kMc wrote ... God made Borak and Grelug, not Borak and Trogdor! Today's prize is a night out at the troll clubs with PEW and ThoRny ... you've got to coordinate getting everybody together, and paying the cover charges. Have fun, and don't drink too much!

Wow, this brings back memories.
I miss Christ Chatman (he was the one who chose the POTD, right?).

POTD predated Chatman, but he eventually assumed the mantle. I'm not gonna guarantee that I'll actually have a winner every day, but I shall do my best. I just thought that something like this would be fun ... and that Fatboy Slim post from Shin was just too good to leave on a single board. Makes me laugh every time I read the thing ... "I highly doubt now, the Funk Soul Brother ..."

I remember I was new to RS.com and I said something about the Jam's "in the city", something about it containing more verve, energy, etc then all the other shit here and there, and ken made a comment about that......................gee, that was years ago!!
and another POD was when I equated Radiohead to the self-absorbed noodling of Pink Floyd!!....I took heat for that comment!!

Did any of y'all ever get the post of the day on the front page of RollingStone.com back in the day? I am not positive about this, but I think that I might have had the very first POTD back on RS.com ... in which I commented (for what may have been the first time) that Jim Morrison's schtick was at best a drunken accident and at worst was pretentious premeditated sophomoric twaddle. Or something like that. Ferdman really liked it, and next thing I knew there was a "Post of the Day" box on RS.com. That may not have been the very first POTD, but it was a very early one, I do remember that. Takes me waaaaaaay back ...

you call this twaddle?
Lyrics for: Horse Latitudes When the still sea conspires an armor And her sullen and aborted Currents breed tiny monsters, True sailing is dead. Awkward instant And the first animal is jettisoned, Legs furiously pumping Their stiff green gallop, And heads bob up Poise Delicate Pause Consent In mute nostril agony Carefully refined And sealed over.

Did any of y'all ever get the post of the day on the front page of RollingStone.com back in the day? dude, we used to get em all the time, shin, me (every once in a while), but there were a few others that were the reigning kings of the POTD: can't for the life of me recall their usernames offhand...

I had two POD's back in the day....Don't remember what the first was for, but the second is when I made a comment about a Pearl Jam show I saw in Hershey, PA where Vedder was in vintage form; pissed off and vocal about it. He made some comment to a girl in the front who kept flashing the band that he wasn't turned on my her "mosquito bites"....Anyway, whatever I wrote ended up being the post of the day.
