But I trust you're enjoying the musical stylings of Rocky von Rocksalot and, um, whatever the hell we're calling his backing band this week. Sshhhhhhhhhhhhhh. We haven't announced the name change yet. Still sort of a secret.

Fuck, I just couldn't remember what the hell the name of the backing band was! Seriously, if I had a secret to spill, it would've been spilled already! And no one reads this board anyway ... and now I've got to wade through all those posts from last night and try to pull out a new POTD. I just feel obligated ...

From the Best Band of the '00's board ... note: i don't really feel this strongly about bss. i just want to get riley's blood stirring a bit. Making this dirty hippie cry won't change the fact that Broken Social Scene are the best band on the 00's. I invested a lot of time in their last album. A lot of time. It's still not YFIIP, granted, and it's sloppy to the point of being frustrating in spots, but it's still a solid and interesting piece of work. I like bands that borrow someone's sound and fuck with it, but most of us like bands who create something fresh. That whole concept is getting harder and harder. I love Interpol for instance, and find the Joy Division comparisons a bit of a stretch other than having cool basslines and a baritone vocalist. Fact remains, they still sound familiar. Broken Social Scene don't sound like anyone. At least no one you can easily pin down. They sound like Broken Social Scene. That's pretty cool. So Rileydog get the POTD, and a big round of applause. I'm all out of gifts today, so you'll just have to accept the praise of a grateful posting community. Congrats.

And today's Post of the Day winner ... just returned from a brief "vacation" ... he's tanned, he's rested, he's ready, he's Skvorecky! The board was PEW Proves The Existence of the Soul, or some such thing ... Voting, especially locally, can produce amazing results for several people. Ripping off credit card companies does nothing for the system, they just pass it on to their customers, who don't want bad credit, so they pay those higher interest rates passed on to them. I get to pay for idiots like you, NOT the government and NOT the credit card company. I DO. So honestly, you should be kissing my ass right now instead of being a thorn in people's sides. Secondly, maybe if you spent more time voting and doing something in your community other than stealing people's toilet paper (which also means that they have to kill more trees to make more paper, oh you that is so conscious in the ways of revolution) you might see some better results. Secondly, downloading music does nothing to help the artist. While it is true that artists are really nothing more than indentured servents, as I have pointed out before most major labels provide their artists with health insurance. So keep downloading and they will start cutting corners and your favorite artists are in all of your magazines but they can't go to a doctor. Downloading from indie bands or "DIY" (which I doubt highly you know what that culture really is) is an even bigger sin in my opinion. Those guys are trying to make it on their own and then they get goons like you that steal their art. Good for you. Also, not paying and stealing student loans makes much much harder for poor lowerclass kids to get college loans that don't have huge interest rates to pay back when they get out of school. You are not doing anyone any kind of service. And today's prize is a gift certificate for $25 McRileybucks, good at any of the billions and billions of golden arches out there ... as long as you can convince 'em that they can take the currency of a Canadian banker as legal tender. Enjoy.

From the Official TV Thread ... Chrisfan - Saw the last episode of season 2 of House this week. It was good, though I'd not long ago seen that Ryan Phillipe movie (was it Jigsaw, or something like that?) and kind of sensed where it was going. A little bit Jacob's Ladder maybe, too. Very good. I do think, though, that "Three Stories" pushed the envelope more for episodic television, and wasn't so gruesome to watch either. Carmen Electra is easier on the eye than exploding testes/eyeballs.There ya have it -- from Jesus lips to our ears, Carmen Electra is easier on the eyes than either exploding testes or eyeballs. Truer words have never been spoken, and that gets Son-of-God-Boy POTD honors for the long weekend. I'd give you the customary prize package, Jesus, but bloody hell, you're going to spend the weekend hanging out with Dolly and watching futball ... probably drinking beer the whole time. I think you've got your reward right there.

Back from a looooooong hiatus ... here's today's official POTD, courtesy of Rocky, on the Random Top Ten board: Oh yeah, not a bad ass in the bunch. I'm going to have to shave my beard down to a goatee and big-ass sideburns, throw on my leather jacket and get my friggin' band off the ground already. It's no longer just about playing music, it's now about saving my people from pop culture lameness.

OK, I've actually been busy with my so-called "real" life in the past week, and so I've missed putting up some deserving posts, but the ThoRnster gets today's nod with this, from CE: You know what, I'll bet Dubya could throw a killer Bar-b-Cue party. I'm nearly certain he is a "Mon Capitan" on the grill. And I'll bet he can sic the dogs on peeps like nobody's bizness. Probably throws a mean frisbee. Is it too much to ask to get him out of the Oval Office, and back on the lawn grillin some burgers for the community?

Right then, 'unofficially' Phil and I'll claim Post Of The Day for this brilliant retort on Kat's board. Yesterday at 1:57, kats wrote:ooohhhh fuck. i was just revisiting guest list and.. do you think its a faux paus to invite an anorexic girl to a cannibalism themed party?
Maarts: Depends. Are you planning on eating her?
Phil: Anorexics make the best spareribs !!
If you like lean meat that is ...

And from the 16th ... I'd meant to put this up sooner, I just about fell off my chair when I read this ... I was absolutely nuts over Godzilla when I was just a wee little lad. And before anyone starts bragging about how their city is better, remember, Godzilla didn't even find your city worth destroying.

I was too cool to care about getting a POTD back in the old rs.com days, but I've gotten over that phase now. This is pretty sweet. I'd like to thank Godzilla for making this possible by eating our trains. I was late for work because of that. Bastard.

Oh yeah, forgot to give you your prize, Ryo! Well, the coffers are a bit short here at POTD central, so you'll just have to do with going over to YouTube to catch clips from old Godzilla clips ... here's a couple of Rileybucks, that should cover the cost of admission.
