You seriously need to realign your priorities, Tunes.

You seriously need to realign your priorities, Tunes. I know, I'm seriously misguided. But really, how do you choose between good music and good food? Impossible. In better news, The Boy Least Likely To is playing here in June, so I apparently got hooked on that CD just in time. Awesome.

Okay, this is a serious sign that Riley needs to get on Soulseek more often these days. I went to make a top ten Cancon tunes list, and could only get to seven! Well, at least with my one song per artist thing going on. It doesn't help that I really don't like the Destroyer album at all, and can't listen to an album called He Poos Clouds. These eight came pretty easy, though, so that's saying something. Would be much easier if Hot Chip and the Thermals would just move to Toronto or Montreal.
Top Ten Seven CanCon Songs 2006
7. "Carbon Paper"- Raising the Fawn 6. "Our Hell"- Emily Haines 5. "Push It To Monday"- The Diableros 4. "Whites Only Party"- The Dears 3. "Someone I Can Be True With"- Sloan 2. "Rome is in the Valley"- The Lovely Feathers 1. "In the Morning"- Junior Boys
Surely I'm forgetting some folks?

Some nice stuff there guys.
Done rather quickly and probably not my final version of this... If I didn't limit it to one song per artist, there's a few bands (e.g. Sloan, Diableros, The Dears, Destroyer, Emm, FF) who'd definitely be listed more than once. A few of these are ultra trendy right now and others will never be anything close to hip, but solid songwriting all the way.
25. Joel Plaskett – Nowhere With You 24. Sunset Rubdown – They Took a Vote and Said No 23. Sandro Perri – Romeo Heart (Slight Return) 22. Patrick Watson – Closer to Paradise 21. Eric Chenaux – Worm and Gear 20. DJ Cyber-Rap – I Remember What It Was Like to Be Twenty-One 19. k-os – Born to Run 18. Hawksley Workman – Goodbye to Radio 17. Blackie and the Rodeo Kings – Crown of Thorns 16. Young and Sexy – Satellite 15. Craig Northey – The Little Things 14. Raising the Fawn – Carbon Paper 13. Jon-Rae and the River – Roll 12. Sloan – Another Way I Could Do It 11. Ron Sexsmith – All In Good Time 10. Memphis – In the Cinema Alone 9. Bruce Cockburn – Different When It Comes to You 8. Tragically Hip – Family Band 7. The Diableros – No Weight 6. The Dears – Ticket to Immortality 5. Emm Gryner – Almighty Love 4. Final Fantasy – Many Lives --> 49 MP 3. Emily Haines – Doctor Blind 2. Destroyer – Looter's Follies 1. Junior Boys – In the Morning

I'm really happy with the "In the Morning" consensus. Was my track of the year overall until recently.
I went through a few months there where I wasn't getting any new stuff, which is prolly why my list is so short. Damn comic book torrents...
Still should have had some Young and Sexy on the list, though, no excuse for me missing that.

"In the Morning" is a great, great song. Prob'ly make my list too, if i had the energy to make one at the moment.
What's the consensus on that Emily Haines album now, a couple of months in? I remember Riley saying he wasn't thrilled with it, but I thought Dr Drum liked it quite a bit. I still haven't heard more than a song or two - worthwhile?

Yeah, I still quite like the Emily Haines album. It very much settles in a place of exquisite melancholy and sticks there for the whole disc. So maybe not the kind of thing you're going to want to listen to day in and day out, but when the mood hits...
