Speaking of u2 BREAKING NEWS U2 Announce New Album Title, Release Date No will.i.am to be found Modestly successful Irish rock'n'roll band U2 have announced that their 12th album, No Line on the Horizon, will be released by Interscope on March 3, 2009 in North America. Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois, and Steve Lillywhite contributed production. It appears that will.i.am did not. Guess Kanye was wrong. Billboard.com reports that the Horizon tracklist is expected to include "Moment of Surrender", "Unknown Caller", and the title track. Also, U2 were recently added to the list of contributors to the War Child benefit album Heroes, out in February.

Has your friend got cloth-eared syndrome? Seems to be spreading very fast....
So how do the remasters compare with the normal standard-CD print? On another board I remember discussing the merit of remastering and someone mentioned that the Grateful Dead-remasters were killed because of the compression...how about these ones?

Soundtrack Of Our Lives CommunionFirst, I fucking hate the cover. Ok, perhaps it ties into the gist of the album somehow and I get that from the equally schmaltzy photos on the inside booklet. But it's an idiot pic IMO....not EVEN something that I'm gonna look at and say "ooooyeah, I wanna check out the muzak on THIS disc!" All that aside,,,,I wanted to hear what the band was up to after a several year lag between discs. I think I'm almost through the 1 st CD of the set and it's got its moments. I think maybe I'm not programmed into the right mood for the guys right now. (I DID dig the tune with harpsichord or whatever) They continue with some 60's throwback sound/vibe --- I'm just looking for that song that will become memorable and haven't seem to have come across it yet. Perhaps a few more listens.....

I'm digging the new Dream Theater as well with the exception of the Portnoy growls. I feel like whoever told that d-bag he could sing should get his ass kicked. I'm also really glad that Portnoy is officially done with is "AA" themed thing as well. Overall though, that record is one of the best they've done in a very long time. LaBrae sounds excellent on it.

Yeah, I liked that they've gone back to the Train Of Thought-speed and yet smoothened it a bit. The 'Portnoy growls' weren't necessary indeed but overall he's very good on this one yet again. James Labrie is probably not as on song as on previous records (age shalt not wither thee, progman) but still manages to be spot on yet again...

there's deluxe 3 disc version of 'black cloud & sailver linings' that i chanced upon as a download.
disc 3 is instrumental versions of the disc for general release...nearly identical duration.
so that solves the 'portnoy growl' problem don't it?
the #2 disc might be outtakes, i'm not sure right now.
i dl'd that at the same time as a liquid tension experiment bootleg from tla in philly, a 2 disc that kicks fucking ASS!
2002 or '03...
the sound is a bit boomy. but MAN!

The second disc is a bunch of covers that they did and it's actually not bad. Overall, I thought the three disc special edition was a little bit overkill and while I love the instrumental disc, Dream Theater has always been a total package for me. I dig LaBrae's voice so I'll just stick to the LTE when I want to hear them just go off for an hour.
Awesome bootleg!
