LOL! Riley, I think your getting the short(er) end of this stick. I remember a "dance remix" of wishing that dragged on for something like ten minutes ... and at least seven minutes of it was nothing but splash drum and that damn synth riff. ARGH! People would flee the dance floor when that thing came on. So if I understand you properly, Ken, what you're saying is, that during that horrendous time in the '80s, you were spending a lot of time at dance clubs?

What if we all just put up here with YSI? Instead of dealing postage and shipping things internationally...that way everyone gets all the mixes, you could pick a person each week to put up a mix...dunno, just thinking...

A CD in an evelope to Britain is what? Two, three bucks? And we'll only be doing it once a month.
But I agree that no one should get discouraged here. I think it should be between the two people sending off how they want their mix, be it on the 'net or in the mail. There should be no set rule at all, I say.
So yeah, Rocky...you should draw names and everyone should just figure it out from there themselves.

So yeah, Rocky...you should draw names and everyone should just figure it out from there themselves. I'm in agreement here. Personally, I'd prefer to receive a CD, and consequently I'll be sending one myself, no matter who I draw, but I don't want to discourage anyone from participating. So long as it's fine with whoever you're matched up with (as I'm sure there are still some who have slow internet connections, and so would understandably not want to have to spend a whole weekend downloading), then I think it should be fine if anyone wants to send it electronically.

No, actually it was at fraternity parties Rocky. This was when I was in college for, um, the first time. I was so succesful at finding horrible dance mixes that, well, I wound up back in school in the nineties, when I was a lot more focussed. That Flock of Seagulls mix was horrible, though, scarred me for life, it did.

Alas, I can't participate in this excellent idea....for one thing, I haven't got a cd burner, and I'm just in way too much teaching/dissertation writing/job application hell to take the time to record a mix tape - and anyway, plenty of people haven't even got tape decks anymore. So, I'd be useless. But just wanted to support the general idea here, and I hope everyone will post their mixes to the general board so I can see what people are sending out! Nice one Sigman Cheers, M

There shall be no seagulls flocking in my general fucking direction without a hockey fight breaking out somewhere online as a result, I assure you.

Nice one Sigman Cheers, MI agree. I also don't have a CD burner, but I'm hoping to see the lists of what people have sent. It's been kind of fun working through my mind of what 15 songs I'd choose as favorites if I did participate.

It's not too late. Here's the final list of people who are in for this first swap:
Myself Phil Skvor Luke Scottsy Rileydog Mantis kmc Ayinger glen maarts samples Ken Holzman patten Melon
Fifteen people. Sounds good.
Okay, I'm off to Ann Arbor for the night to get drunk and probably not get laid, but I'll probably be back tomorrow afternoon to post up the pairings before I hit up a monster rock and roll show at my favorite dingy rock and roll club in Detroit tomorrow night.. If not, then Sunday for sure.
