I figure we need a sports board here as well. Especially now that the sports guy is back on full time obn espn.com
Highlights for the week: Roy Jones cost me about a thousand bucks. How the fuck does he lose? Unbelievable
Smarty Jones wins the Preakness by the biggest margin in history. I won about $150 on that one. The odds sucked for him
The Nets blew the series by losing last night. Frank cant coach for shit. if you hold a team to 81 points at home you should win.
Kings/T-Wolves game 7. I have no fucking idea who will win this game. Should be a great game 7.
All that said........damn i can't wait for football

Yep, the Pistons live to fight another day. Doesn't matter if they win this series, though. That retread Larry Brown will lose to the Pistons former coach (Rick Carlisle, now coaching Indiana) in 5 games.

My hatred for the Lakers cannot be quantified. Goddamn buzzer-beater.
I didn't see any of the Roy Jones fight, though I heard it was a near perfect punch that floored him. That's what he gets for being in the Matrix series.
It's gettin' close to fantasy football time. Yummy. And oh yeah, actual football too. Look out for Sexy Rexy Grossman and the new look Bears. Not to be fucked with.

Yeah – FOOTBALL! The Lions made some damn good pickups in the off-season, and their draft was rated an ‘A’ by ESPN. Still a year or two away from the playoffs, IMO.
I’m willing to give Harrington one more year to ‘blossom’ and for his young receivers (Roy Williams and Charles Rogers) to mature. If he still blows after that, we may have to face the fact that he’s just not that good.

C'mon Ndy...I'm as much a 'homer' as the next guy, and I sincerely hope the Bears morph to some sorta contention....but Rex Grossman? We gotta hope though, eh?
Re The Lakers...I fucking tuned out after I saw the Spurs get the lead with, what, 4 seconds left? Or was it 0.4 sec?
I couldn't believe the Spurs lost that way!

Haha, you mean you're not sold on all 5 foot 5 inches of Rex? Yeah, me neither, but I like to be optimistic. Let's face it, there's very very little chance that he could be worse than Kordell. Ugh. Grossman didn't look bad in his few starts towards the end of the year, and concerning the develop time usually needed for young quarterbacks in today's league, I like to think that there's at least a glimmer of hope that he can one day be a solid, if not good starting quarterback. We'll see. I'm such a homer, I know.
As for the Lions, it was painful to sit there on draft day and hear the praise that everyone was showering on Millen, Mariuchi and co. If their draft picks turn out to be as good as everyone says they could be, it'll make living in the NFC North that much harder. Williams was a number one pick on some draft boards, and a lot of people were calling Jones the best RB in the draft. We'll see. Their starting 3 WRs can burn down the field, that's for damn sure.

If Harrington has time to throw the ball then the Lions will be dangerous. I can't believe I just said that.
I can't say i'm optimistic about the Bears. Grossman doesn't seem to be starter quality in my eyes. maybe he'll prove me wrong. All I know for sure is that he's better than Kordell

Well, the Bears got that OT Tait from the Chiefs which should hopefully be a big improvement, and they also signed fucking Ruben Brown, who I thought had retired two years ago. They also picked up Thomas Jones, who, if he can get going where he left off last year, could be big. But yeah, all in all, I'm still not looking forward to the season. I predict a 7-9 year in mediocrity. What have the Colts done Clubber? Anyone new? How's Peyton's enormous contract gonna affect them?

Well, perhaps our two OL signees (Damien Woody from the Patriots and David Loverne (Rams) can help there, Clubber, as well as an improved running game if rookie Kevin Jones is all he's cracked up to be. He now has Rogers and Tai Streets starting, with Ahz Hakim going back to being a third-down specialist -- a role he excelled at in St. Louis. Williams is a year away from starting. Detroit also got better in the DB department, picking up FS Brock Marion (Dolphins) and CB Fernando Bryant (Jags). Their biggest hole appears to be the lack of a dominant pass-rusher (Robert Porcher is nearing retirement), but I think they can eek out the Bears at 8-8.

Peyton's contract actually helped the sal;ary cap for the team so it won't be a big deal(don't ask me how it helps but it does). As for the draft, they took all defense. They got a hard hitting safety from Iowa(maybe its Purdue). He's only 5'9 which might be a huge problem with the short Mike Doss on the other side. Apparently this new safety is good though, we'll see. They got a couple of risky corners later in the draft. They also picked up some much needed linebackers. Unless these rookies come up big it is gonna be another long season on the defensive side of the ball for the Colts. On a good note, they picked up a kicker and his specialty is booting the ball out of the endzone of kickoffs. It doesn't sound like much but I think it is huge. especially with the problems they had on kickoff coverage last year.

What do you guys think of Roethlisberger? I never saw him play in college, but from what everyone's saying, the Steelers got a real steal in the 11 pick in him. Having grown up near Pittsburgh, and being a fan of them since I can remember, I'm obviously excited about the prospect of having a good quarterback (for the first time that I can remember).

[/quote] That sounds pretty fucking impressive. Plus the Norris division isn't very strong. If they can work together well I think we might have the new panthers this year. harrington has gotta learn to get rid of the ball w/o throwing picks. If he can do that then they could sneak up on a lot of teams

Why can't I do this quote thing right? God I'm stupid I like Roethlesberger a lot. I think by the 7th or 8th game he will be their starter. I also think he will be the best QB out of all the draft picks. He seems to love to compete and has all the skills. I like him a lot. Did I say that already?

Good observation, Clubber. Joey was one of the least-sacked quarterbacks in the league last year, though sometimes he's gotta know it's better to just eat the ball and punt than throw it into traffic.
