I HATE HATE HATE the quiznos commercial with the chick who says real women need lots of meat. She's fucking annoying...isn't innuendo supposed to be sexy? Not to mention that it gets played during EVERY break when I watch TV I see that whore ten times during an hour show. Somebody get her some cock so she'll shut the hell up. LOL

Which is lamer, the shameless ripping of "Taxman" on the Caddillac commercial, or the brazen lifting of the bass line of "Walk on the Wild Side" with some notes switched on the Hertz commercial?

That's not "Taxman" on the Cadillac commercial. It's a song called "Start" by The Jam. That said, "Start" is a pretty obvious rip-off of the "Taxman" bass line.
I was wondering if I was the only one who detected the "Walk On The Wild Side" mutation that Hertz is using. Shameless. Probably tried to get the rights to the Lou Reed song but was denied so they hired some studio musicians to screw it up just to get back at him.

I guess I wasn't listening very closely to the Cadillac jingle. It's not just the bass line, though - the guitar sound, the whole feel of it. Glad GM licensed a real tune, though.

I haven't seen that Caddy commercial yet, but "Start!" is one of my favorite Jam songs. But Weller totally knicked the bass line from "Taxman" and the backwards guitar solo is vintage psychedelic Beatles. Later, he stole the Supremes bass line from "You Can't Hurry Love" for the hooky bass riff in "Town Called Malice." Maybe this was all some kind of karmic payback for the Sex Pistols ripping off the guitar hook from "In the City" to use as the circular riff in "Holidays in the Sun." Or for Harrison practically lifting "He's So Fine" hook, line, and sinker for "My Sweet Lord."

"My Sweet Lord" is the most blatant rip I think I've ever heard. Even the change! Unreal. It must have been this Danny Partridge moment, where he heard Keith writing the great song through the thin wall while he was sleeping. Yeah, that's it - he heard it in his sleep!

Oh yeah, you can literally sing "He's So Fine" to "My Sweet Lord," and vice versa. After that, I always felt like George really couldn't bitch about anyone "stealing" one of his songs. Or the bass line from one of 'em, anyway.
Wonder who wrote that bit, George or Macca. It really has that McCartney feel to it. I have a feeling that Paul never really stuck to what he was "told" to play, and that no one (not even John) ever bitched about it.

Worst and most annoying ads EVER....
Those fucking "head on: apply directly to the head" pieces of shit - God damnit that shit is irritating!
As much as I like their cars - the whole Mazda "Zoom zoom zoom" promotion is getting a bit on the nerves too...

There are a few commercials that I totally despise these days.
One is the ATT&T series of ads with the little jingle at the end that sounds like Oasis or some bad Brit-Pop band singing "All around the world, start spreading the word...". God, I hate that. It's something I could have dismissed if it were just one commercial that ran it's course in a week or so. But no, it's become their official theme song.
The Pizza Hut commercial where the guy is sneaking a few bites of a Meat Lovers pie before he gets caught by his wife...they've run that one ENTIRELY too long. I love Pizza Hut, but the two or three I've eaten at in the last month were not doing the special advertised in that commercial, so I'm REALLY enduring it for nothing.
I don't like that SUV commercial that starts out with Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride" then morphs into your typical ad-ageny stock music before returning to "Magic Carpet ride"'s organ solo. You've got to be lilstening pretty close to hear the change-ups, but once you do I'll betcha you'll find it every bit as annoying as I do.
All the Cingular commercials suck.
On a more positive note, I really like Geico's caveman commercials. I may have already mentioned them here, but they retain their humor value and the new ones are just as funny as the old ones. I hope they keep the caveman ads going for a long time, and THAT, my friends, is not something you'll hear me saying about too many commercials.

I read either on-line or saw on CNN that one of the networks is developing a brand new television series based on Geico's "cavemen" commercials. I like them too. Most are funny. I dig the original caveman more than any of the others though. The commercials without the "original" caveman are not as funny.

Yeah, they'll have to take something funny and clever like the caveman thing and run it into the ground, of course. But why does Geico have two mascot thingies? Isn't the lizard enough? Granted, I like the caveman better - the lizard is kinda lame and annoying, but it's a little schizoid.
Those are all pretty bad, Jac. I hate it when they edit a song's melody for no reason. Sure, they have to for time, but sometimes they just do it because some idiotic producer decided that the actual melody was a distraction. Case in point: the stupid car commercial that uses that song from the Sesame Street muppets skit... You know, "menemene, do - do - doodoodoo." If you're going to use the melody, use the melody!

...And, oh yeah Scottsy, the "Zoom, zoom, zoom" campaign has definitely gone over to the obnoxious. But we already did the "Head On - Apply directly..." thing. You're way late on that. I think we need to have a "special" BBQ for you. Just to follow up, Ken, I'm sure this was only a minor brainfart on your part, but "My Sweet Lord" was from Harrison's solo days. I remember feeling bummed later that George's first solo mega-hit turned out to be a rip.

Head on.... apply directly to the head
Is this a cure for the lobotomy - like behaviour induced by the ads for this product??!!

No doubt. I love the comments, too. I still have a can of R-12 in the garage - I need to go puncture it.
