We've left more than half the bars in the Salt Lake valley behind in a trail of ruinous, bloodied destruction. But the damage goes deeper than that. For instance, the latest on the rumor mill has it that, our last venue - Club Vegas - has been X'd off the list due to some idiotic "love triangle" bullshit between a certain BM lady and the proprietor, in any case he's got his panties in a wad about it & now we're not allowed to play there. Which sux, cuz to tell the truth, Club Vegas was a near perfect venue for our shows. It was sturdy in architecture - so we could thrash as hard as we wanted and not really damage the place. Plus the security staff were cool w/us - (all but one dumb fuck). And the bartenders were sweet babes. Club Vegas was tha shit!
But as of Sat nite, I think we found our true calling for the ideal venue for our kind of shows. The Dragon's Lair was not only perfectly suited in its Medieval theme, but the owners were actually cool with us. Probably cuz ol' "One Thumb" @the bar really is an SCA dog. And believe me - I know - SCA dogs have tasted blood on the battlefield.
IN any case, Terra Noir finally had their gear assembled and shortly after 10 they began their set. Micah (lead singer/ bass) had his long hair shorn, so he looked kinda preppy but he applied basic black bat wings over his eyes and wore this wicked black cape w/maroon liner and hood, so he resembled an evil magi up there, and both Alex's on guitar provided a swirling, gradual, grim atmosphere of ruinous forests in Mordor, and Andy kept the drumming sparse & steady, they really put on a killer set with a very magickal vibe, dark magicks conjuring up ancient sorceries from a time before man appeared on this earth.
Directly afterwards, I approached Micah and told him "Dude, if an atom bomb dropped right now, before Ibex goes on, I'd die happy", and he said "Hold on a sec", and went to grab his pile of T-shirts. He handed me one, "Here you go man, this is yours", and I was like "Hell yes, thanks!", and am now the proud owner of an authentic Terra Noir shirt, given to me by Micah himself. It says "True Us Black Metal" on the back, and the band logo on the front.
(I'm tryin to email me some pics I snapped whilst in a regular drunken fRenzy. Aye, the whiskey shots were quaffed left & right. Indeed, the Jaeger here & there helped in summoning levels of drunkenness rare for even a Saturday night. And the pitchers of cold brew were plentiful. I'll post what pics I can, momentarily)
